Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release

MANKATO - The Mankato MoonDogs struck for four runs on four hits in the Bottom of the 1st inning, and that would be all they needed in their 4-1 defeat of the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Thursday night at Franklin Rogers Park.

The Lunkers only run of the game came in the Top of the 6th when Wade Wass' sacrifice fly brought home Dan Olinger.

Lunkers starter Jason Forjet was chased from the game after one inning, throwing 35 pitches in the inning. He took his first loss of the season.

John McLeod came on in relief and pitched seven innings of scoreless baseball, striking out nine.

The win goes to Blake Schwartz for Mankato. Schwartz went five and two-thirds, giving up only one run and picking up his sixth win of the season.

Patrick Goelz picked up his third save for the MoonDogs.

The Lunkers and MoonDogs are back in action Friday night from Franklin Rogers Park, first pitch is set for 7:05.
