
Mallards Hit the Road for Two Vs. Woodchucks

MADISON, WI - July 28, 2011. After a 3-2 homestand, the Madison Mallards are back on the road to take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks in a two-game series that begins Thursday at 6:35 p.m. at Athletic Park. The game will mark the third time the Mallards will play in Wausau this season. Madison is 1-1 at Athletic Park and 2-3 overall against the Woodchucks.
Pitching for the Mallards will be 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Rusty Shellhorn (Texas Tech). Shellhorn is 4-2 this season with a 2.22 earned run average spanning 11 appearances (nine of which were starts). He is also amongst the league leaders in strikeouts, as he has accumulated 52 in 44.2 innings of work. Shellhorn has made one start against the Woodchucks this season, and had a no- decision in the team's 7-6 loss on June 7. He pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, walked three, and struck out five.
The Woodchucks will counter with Adair Robles (San Diego Christian). Robles has not pitched for Wisconsin this season after going 2-4 for San Diego Christian this spring. In 12 games, the junior from Mexico City pitched 62.1 innings and had an ERA of 3.21.
The Mallards and Woodchucks will play one more game in the series following Thursday's opener. Friday's game will also start at 6:35 p.m.
