Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a member of the Northeast League, are proud to announce that RHP John Mangieri has been selected to play on the Italian Olympic Baseball Team in Athens this summer. Mangieri has left the Lumberjacks for the time being to practice with the Italian National Team. John, signed by the Jacks from the Atlantic League this spring, pitched in one game, tossing a perfect inning.

Lumberjacks have also released two players this weekend to improve a team that has won five straight. The Jacks released RHP Lance Odom and LHP Yunior Cabrera.

Odom had pitched three scoreless innings in four appearances, walking three and fanning three. Cabrera had struggled, posting a 18.00 ERA in two games, pitching one inning. The team signed Cabrera a week ago.

The Lumberjacks finish up their first home stand at the Wink with a three game series with the Elmira Pioneers beginning on Monday, June 7. Tuesday's game is the Lumberjacks First Annual School Day, which features a special 11 AM start. Only a couple hundred tickets remain for that game. The stand finishes on Wednesday night with a 6:30 start. For tickets, call the Lumberjacks at (207) 947-1900, stop in the Jacks' Pro Shop in the Bangor Mall, or purchase them online at www.bangorlumberjacks.com.
