Colorado Mammoth News Release

NEW YORK - The Colorado Mammoth used its first pick of the 2006 National Lacrosse League entry draft to select forward Gary Bining of Ohio State University. Bining, a 5-foot-8, 160-pound native of Delta, British Columbia, was the 13th overall selection and the Mammoth's only first-round pick.

Bining captained the Buckeyes to a 7-6 record last spring in his senior season. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Bining helped the Buckeyes win consecutive conference championships in his first two years with the team. The left-handed forward has also played in the Western Lacrosse Association for the Coquitlam (British Columbia) Adanacs and won the Jim Bishop Memorial Award for leadership, sportsmanship and outstanding play in 2003.

The Mammoth has five picks remaining in tonight's draft.

The San Jose Stealth selected Ryan Benesch of Kitchener-Waterloo of the Ontario Lacrosse Association with the first pick in the draft.
