Spokane Indians News Release

Spokane, WA -You can forgive Tri-City for overlooking Spokane's Joe Maloney-just don't expect it to happen again. Mired in a 4-for-32 slump over his last 10 games, the Indians designated hitter looked nothing like the batter that was named the Northwest League Player of the Week at the beginning of the month.

Still, baseball is a game of adjustments, and Maloney, after striking out in his first two at-bats, made the necessary changes when the team needed him most. On a changeup from Dust Devils reliever Matt Flemer (2-2) in the bottom of the eighth, Maloney rocketed a two-run triple to the alley, giving the Indians the lead on their way to a 4-3 win over Tri-City in front of 3,223 fans at Avista Stadium for Hit and Win Night presented by Longhorn BBQ, 101.1 Rock "˜N' Roll's Greatest Hits, and 1050 The Key.

The game wasn't over just yet though, as the Dust Devils scored once against Alec Asher (2-3) in the ninth before stranding runners at second and third to end the contest and send the Indians to their third straight victory.

Red-hot Royce Bolinger extended his hitting streak to 21 games with a single in the fifth inning; the longest such streak in the NWL this season. Second baseman Ryan Rua chipped in a pair of hits to finish the night with an even .300 average.

Tomorrow's game is the series finale against the Dust Devils and is Indians Team Photo Giveaway presented by Lawton Printing and SportsRadio 1510 KGA.
