Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (March 10, 2015) - The Quad City Mallards will wear special edition fan designed jerseys when they take on the Wichita Thunder Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. at the i wireless Center and those jerseys will go up for bid in a live auction immediately following the game to benefit the Genesis Health Services Foundation's Outpatient Rehabilitation program.Â
The jerseys are based on the concept provided by Australian Heath Morrison, the winner of the team's fan jersey design contest.Â
Â
"We are pleased to be able to partner again with the Mallards and their fans'' said Ken Croken, vice president of corporate communications, Genesis Health System. "Mallards fans have consistently come through to support Genesis Health Services Foundation projects benefiting people throughout the region. Considering the quality of the fan-designed jersey for this auction, we expect a great deal of interest at auction time.''
Saturday night's event is the second of two Mallards Genesis jersey auctions this season. A January 31 auction raised nearly $20,000 for the Genesis Flu-Free QC program. Over the last 20 years, Mallards jersey auctions have raised over $800,000 to benefit Genesis Health System charities. Â
The body of Saturday night's jersey is in the Mallards' light pewter with a white stripe across the chest while the shoulders and sleeves are green trimmed in orange. The front of the sweater features a retro Mallard angry duck logo- originally sported by the Flock between 2001 and 2005- in the team's contemporary colors on a shield baring the club's name and the inscription "since 1995"- the Mallards' inaugural season. The jersey also features the club's current flying Mallard logo on the back of the collar and the secondary webbed foot logo on each shoulder.
Â
Morrison's winning concept was chosen earlier this season from among scores of entries submitted by fans from throughout North America and around the world. The Mallards teamed with Hockey Jersey Concepts for the contest.
Saturday night's auction will be conducted by Stenzel Auction Service, a family owned business that has been providing auction and appraisal services for over 50 years. More information on Stenzel Auction Service and be found at www.stenzelauction.com.
Tickets for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- including Saturday night's contest- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.  The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.Â
