
Mallards Gear Up for Three Games in Four Nights

Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL â The Mallards host a return match with the Fort Wayne Komets on Thursday before heading to Missouri to close out 2004. The Mallards begin 2005 on Sunday in Port Huron. Last week, the Komets downed Quad City 4-2 in the first of two consecutive match-ups at The MARK. The Mallards dropped a 6-2 decision in Kalamazoo last Wednesday.

· Thursday, December 30th vs. the Fort Wayne Komets at The MARK
It's the first ever Mallards/Casino Rock Island Voodoo Doll Giveaway. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive "Kometko" Voodoo Dolls courtesy of Casino Rock Island. The game also marks the second meeting in five days between the intradivision rivals.
· Friday, December 31st vs. the Missouri River Otters at the Family Arena is St. Charles, MO
The Mallards play their final game of 2004 on Friday in Missouri. The Mallards are 1-2-0 vs. the Otters this year with all three meetings taking play in Missouri.
· Sunday, January 2nd vs. the Port Huron Beacons at McMorran Arena in Port Huron, MI
The first Mallards contest of the new year is also the fifth meeting of the season with the Beacons. The Mallards are 2-1-1 in the first four games including a 4-3 win the last time the teams met in Port Huron on December 12th
Upcoming Promotions
· December 30th vs. Fort Wayne-Casino Rock Island Voodoo Doll Giveaway
On December 30th, the Mallards host Fort Wayne. "Kometko" Voodoo Dolls will be given away to 3,000 fans courtesy of Casino Rock Island and the Mallards. The game will also feature AirTran Airway's Dancing for Destinations. One lucky fan will receive a free flight for two to anywhere in the continental United States out of the Quad City International Airport. Tickets are available at The MARK box office or via Ticketmaster at (563) 326-1111.
· January 9th vs. the Missouri River Otters-The Video Games Etc. Challenge
The Video Games Etc. Challenge returns for a second season on January 9th as the Mallards host the Otters for the first time this season. Before the game (from 1-3 p.m. at The MARK), contestants will compete in an NHL Video Game Tournament. The Championship Match will be featured on the big screen during an intermission of the game vs. Missouri. The Challenge Champion will receive either a Playstation 2 or Xbox from Video Games Etc. Call the Mallards office at 309-764-7825 to register for the tournament. It's also Family Fun-Day Sunday and the Mallards are hosting a pre-game skate from 1:15-2:00 p.m.
· January 14th vs. the Missouri River Otters-Credit Union Night
A Mallards tradition continues on January 14th with Credit Union Night. The night also features free Thundersticks courtesy of The Bread Basket.
· January 15th vs. the Elmira Jackals-Old Time Hockey Night 2 featuring Frank Pellico
Legendary Blackhawks organist returns to The MARK on January 15th. Pellico has entertained Chicago fans at both the Chicago Stadium and the United Center for years. His unique style of organ music thrilled Mallards fans in his first appearance and promises to do the same during his second trip to the Quad Cities.
Duck Talk
Tonight, the Mallards are back at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge for Duck Talk beginning at 7 p.m. This week's guests are Jeff Reynaert, Paul Cabana and Serge Crochetiere along with coach Paul Gillis. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

The Mallards make their fourth appearance of the season at the Family Arena on Friday. The teams do not meet at The MARK for the first time until January 9th.
Sunday, January 2nd vs. the Port Huron Beacons at McMorran Arena in Port Huron, MI
The Mallards are at Port Huron to kick off 2005. The Mallards are 1-0-1 at McMorran Arena this year. Sergei Durdin was named first star during the Mallards last game in Port Huron. Durdin recorded his first ever game-winning goal in the 4-3 Mallards victory.

A spectacular performance by Mike Kompon wasn't enough to overcome three early Kalamazoo goals as the Mallards lost their first meeting of the year vs. the Wings. Kompon scored both Mallards goals and Jason Deskins earned a pair of assists. The Wings took control of the game with a three-goal outburst early in the first period.
Sunday, December 26-Fort Wayne 4 at Quad City 2
The Mallards fell behind 3-0 before A.J. MacLean scored his third goal at the 7:46 mark of the third period. Jason Deskins scored 50 seconds later to pull the Mallards within one goal at 3-2. The Mallards late charge was thwarted when P.C. Drouin scored his second goal of the game into an empty net at 18:41 of the final period.
Player of the Week
Mike Kompon is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week for a third consecutive week. Kompon had four points (two goals and two assists) in the Mallards two games last week.
Goaltender of the Week
Robert Gherson is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. Gherson stopped 23 shots in his return to the Mallards line-up on Sunday vs. Fort Wayne.
