Generals tied for first in Central Division

Week In Review - The Generals posted a record of 1-0-2 last week and moved into a first place tie with Muskegon Fury in the Central Division. On Wednesday, December 22, 2004 the Generals defeated the Fury 6-1 at Perani Arena. Right wing Rob Valicevic paced the attack with two goals and one assist. Goaltender Dan McIntyre turned aside 36 of 37 shots for his 8th victory of the season. The Generals traveled to Muskegon on Thursday, December 23, 2004 and earned a shootout point 3-2 loss against the Fury. Flint battled from behind on two occasions in the third period to force the shootout. Bobby Reynolds and Jim Duhart scored for Flint. Marco Emond stopped 22 of 24 shots while earning the shootout point for Flint. On Sunday afternoon, the Generals dropped a 3-2 shootout decision against the visiting Motor City Mechanics. Duhart (17) and J.P. Morin (3) scored for the Generals.

Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week Nominee - Right wing and Assistant Coach Bobby Reynolds is our nominee for the Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week ending December 26, 2004. In three games, Reynolds had one goal and five assists for six points and was +3. Reynolds had three assists against Muskegon in the 6-1 victory last Wednesday and figured in both goals in the 3-2 shootout defeat at Muskegon on Thursday.

Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week Nominee - Goaltender Dan McIntyre is our nominee for the Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week ending December 26, 2004. McIntyre posted a record of 1-0-1 last week earning the 6-1 victory over Muskegon on Wednesday stopping 36 of 37 shots. McIntyre turned aside 33 of 35 shots earning one point in the 3-2 shootout loss against Motor City on Sunday afternoon. McIntyre stopped 69 of 72 shots with a 9.58 save percentage.

Wednesday will be the third of six regular season meetings against the Outlaws this season. Flint will make their only visit to Kansas City in late March (2005) as part of a four game Western trip. Leading scorers are Joe Seroski (15g, 12a, 27 pts.) and Steve Yetman (11g, 16a, 27 pts.) The Outlaws play at Fort Wayne tonight before heading to Flint for Wednesday's game. Kansas City wraps up their weekend with a pair of games at Motor City on Saturday and Sunday.

This weekend with mark the third and fourth of nine regular season meetings against the Beacons this season. Flint makes their first visit to Port Huron on Friday night. After a slow start, Port Huron has been one of the hottest teams in the league in recent weeks. The Beacons' leading scorers are left wing David Beauregard (22g, 11a, 33 pts.) and center Aaron Brand (9g, 22a, 31 pts.) Goaltenders Stu Dunn and Cory Kooper serve as the last line of defense for the Beacons. Port Huron carries a three-game winning streak into Friday night's game. The Beacons will wrap up their weekend on Sunday hosting the Quad City Mallards.

Flint and Muskegon tangle for the sixth of nine regular season meetings on Sunday. Flint has a record of 2-1-2 against the Fury this season. Flint will visit Muskegon in their next meeting on Sunday afternoon, January 30, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at L.C. Walker Arena. The leading scorers are right wing Robin Bouchard (16g, 18a, 34 pts.), center Jeff Nelson (9g, 22a, 31 pts.) and right wing Scott Hollis (11g, 18a, 29 pts.) Penalty minutes leaders are right wing Jason Lawmaster (148) and left wing David Ambler (123). Last week, the Fury split a home and home series with the Generals just before the Christmas break. Muskegon wrapped up their weekend action dropping a 3-1 decision at Port Huron on Sunday. In other games this week, the Fury hosts Missouri on Tuesday (12/28) and Kalamazoo on Thursday (12/30) and then travel to Rockford on Friday (12/31).

Leading scorers: Bobby Reynolds, (10g, 31a, 4135 pts.), Mike Kinnie (187g, 14a, 321 pts.) and Rob Valicevic (14g, 18a, 32 pts.) Penalty minutes leader is Kris Waltze (128). Kinnie continues to lead all U.H.L. rookies in points (32) goals (18), power play goals (8). Reynolds is third place in league scoring (41 pts.) and is only six points away from the top spot.
