Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics outshot the Quad City Mallards 36-24 but suffered a 2-1 loss at The Garage tonight.

The Mallards opened the scoring early, just 1:28 into the first period when A.J. MacLean found the back of the net. Jeff Doyle answered for the Mechanics, scoring on a powerplay strike at 12:11 of the first period.

Down 2-1 in the second period, center Joe Burton missed the net on a breakaway. Quad City hung on for the 2-1 win after a scoreless third period. Motor City racked up 62 minutes in penalties, while the Mallards recorded 26 on the evening.

The Mechanics host the Missouri River Otters tomorrow night at 7:30pm. All fans in attendance will receive Bryan Smolinski posters courtesy of Auto-Lab, WDFN and The Macomb Daily. Smolinski will sign autographs on the concourse following the game. On Sunday, the Mechanics head to Flint to face the Generals at 4:00pm.
