Generals March Past Missouri

FLINT, MI - The Generals put together a solid offensive performance and goaltender Dan McIntyre shut the door when called upon with a 6-2 victory over the Missouri River Otters Friday night at Perani's Arena.

Flint took a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back. Left wing Jim Duhart (21) scored at 1:25 and Assistant Coach Bobby Reynolds (23) at 11:00 gave the Generals that 2-0 lead after the first period. Missouri cut the lead in half in the second period on a short-handed goal by center Lars Petterson (21) at 1:16 to make it a 2-1 score. Flint answered on the power play only 15 seconds later as center John DiPace (13) scored on an outstanding pass from new-comer Kevin Miller to beat Otters' goaltender Jason Tapp at 1:31 for the 3-1 lead.

Still in the second period, Generals' rookie right winger Mike Kinnie (32) scored at 16:18 for the 4-1 lead but Missouri struck again. Left Wing Cole Bassett (8) scored from in close at 18:31 to cut in to the Generals' lead at 4-2 at the end of the second period.

Flint wrapped it up in the third period with two unanswered goals. Defenseman Jason Woolley (2) scored on the power play at 8:46 and captain Kam White (3) scored into the empty net at 17:32 to seal the 6-2 victory. Goaltender Dan McIntyre stopped 38 of 40 shots for his fourteenth victory of the season.

Flint (27-24-11, 65 pts.) still holds eighth place in the overall standings and third place in the Central Division of the United Hockey League and carries a two-game winning streak into Sunday's game against Motor City. Missouri (34-23-5, 74 pts) is in third place in the Western Division and seventh place in the overall standings. The River Otters play at Motor City on Saturday night.
