Mallards Fall to Evansville 4-2

MOLINE, Ill. (December 22, 2010) - Damien Surma scored twice and Matt Lundin made 30 saves as the Evansville IceMen defeated the host Quad City Mallards 4-2 Wednesday night.

Surma gave the IceMen a lead they would not relinquish when he scored the only goal of the first period from the slot at the 2:58 mark.

Braden Desmet stretched the Evansville lead to 2-0 when he buried a Nicklas Lindberg centering feed at 5:56 of the second period. At 14 minutes of the second Surma scored his second goal of the night from the left wing circle to widen the gap to 3-0. The Mallards got on the scoreboard for the first time just 33 seconds later when Obi Aduba buried a wrist shot from the left wing circle.

Eric Giosa scored from close range to bring the Mallards back within one at 3:40 of the third period, but Lindberg's drive from the right wing circle reestablished the IceMen's two goal lead just less than two minutes later.

The Mallards return to action on the road tomorrow night against the Missouri Mavericks. The Flock next takes to the ice at home next Monday at 7:05 p.m. against the Bloomington PrairieThunder.
