Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release

LAREDO, Texas-The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (13-13-3) five game winning streak was snapped on Wednesday night by the Laredo Bucks (10-13-4) by a score of 5-0. The Bucks scored five goals in the first two periods against the Bees. The Bees were shutout for the first time this season.

The game started on a strong note for the Bees but the posts would prove to the Bees enemy as the Bees rung two shots off the irons in the first two minutes of the game.

The Bucks would respond and they were able to find twine twice before the horn to the end the first period would sound.

Ryan Lehr would get the first goal at 2:18 of the first period with assists to Justin Styffe and Jeff Hazelwood. Hazelwood and Styffe had each been turned away by Pagliero but the third opportunity from Lehr found the back of the net.

The Bucks increased their lead to two goals at 12:09 with Justin Styffe's strike from the slot. Darryl Smith took the puck from the corner and fed it in front to Styffe who one-timed it past Pagliero.

Laredo would put the game out of reach for the Bees in the second period scoring three goals

Addison DeBoer struck first from the top of the circles. Justin Styffe picked up the assist for his third point. Daniel Koger and Hans Benson each added a strike in the third as well. Juliano Pagliero would be pulled after the fifth goal in favor of Dan Rosen.

Dan Rosen would hold the Bucks scoreless for the rest of the game and made 11 saves in relief.

The Killer Bees are off until December 28th when they begin a two game home stand against the Odessa Jackalopes. Both games, on December 28th and 29th start at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available on killerbeehockey.com or by calling (956) 843-PUCK (7825).
