
Mallards Fall in Green Bay 5-4

Green Bay, WI - The Madison Mallards (16-12) fell in a close game tonight to the Green Bay Bullfrogs (14-17) in Green Bay by a score of 5-4.
The Mallards scored one run in the first and three in the seventh when second baseman Robbie Tenerowicz (California) laid down a bunt that was mishandled by the Green Bay first baseman, scoring center fielder Will Krug (Illinois) from third. Third baseman Pete Alonso (Florida) added a two RBI single later in the seventh to go ahead 4-3.
The Bullfrogs responded with two of their own in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead 5-4.
Green Bay closer Cody Pollack (Midland) retired the three batters he faced in the ninth to close down the Mallards and end their hopes of a comeback.
Mallards starter Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State) was solid in 5.2 innings of work, giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out six in his second start with the club. Receiving the loss was reliever Nathan Hoffmann (Madison College) after giving up two runs on two hits.
Green Bay pitcher Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State) pitched six complete innings, giving up one run on seven hits, walking one while striking out four. Getting the win for the Bullfrogs was Jake Stolley (Northwestern), who pitched one scoreless inning in relief, giving up just one hit.
The Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" tomorrow to face the Lakeshore Chinooks at 6:05 pm. Saturday night is 80's Night featuring an appearance by Jose Canseco in a post-game home run derby. There will also be a Capitol View Events Pre-Game 1985K.
