Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs and Madison Mallards will play the final game of their two-game series on Friday night at Joannes Stadium. Green Bay (13-17) took game one from the Mallards (16-12) on Thursday night by a score of 5-2.
The Bullfrogs and Mallards both scored their first two runs of the game in their third inning on Thursday. The two teams would remain tied until the Bullfrogs opened the game up with a three-run seventh inning that put them out front by three. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) continued his hot hitting by going 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Johnny Bekakis (Long Beach State) was 3-for-4, raising his batting average to .343 on the season.
Green Bay will look to sweep the two-game series from Madison on Friday and will hand the ball off to Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State). Ellenbest has made four appearances for the Bullfrogs this season with three starts. In those four appearances, Ellenbest has accumulated a 1-2 record with a 6.60 ERA in fifteen innings pitched. Ellenbest's win on the season came back on June 1st when he threw five and one-thirds innings, surrendering three runs on only four hits to the La Crosse Loggers. Ellenbest faced the Mallards on June 7th, allowing three runs on seven hits to Madison while taking the loss.
Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State) will take the mound for the Mallards on Friday night. The right-handed freshman will be making his first start for the Mallards on the season. Buffett has appeared just one other game, throwing one and one-third innings of relief on June 23th. He did not surrender any runs or hits in that appearance and has a 0-0 record with a 0.00 ERA thus far.
First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM from Joannes Stadium on Friday night. After Friday's game, the Bullfrogs will remain in Green Bay for a two-game series with the Duluth Huskies on Saturday and Sunday, before playing a home-and-home double-header against the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Monday.
