Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Madison Wis. - The Friday night matchup between the Kenosha Kingfish and the Madison Mallards had all the makings of an old-fashioned pitchers duel that would be close the entire way. Things never worked out that way, as the Mallards claimed victory by a final score of 11-4.
Rico Garcia took the mound for the Kingfish and surrendered his first eight runs of the season. Anthony Gonsolin got things started for the Mallards with a two run blast in the first frame, which was followed by another two runs to make the score 4-0 through one.
The Kingfish retaliated with two runs in the second as Alex Dunlap tripled home Jason Scholl, then was brought home via a sacrifice fly by Alex Borglin to halve the deficit. It wouldn't stay that way long, as Madison struck for four more runs in the third inning with a pair of homeruns to knock Garcia out of the game.
Trevor Haas replaced Garcia and pitched for three innings, surrendering two runs off of four hits. Callahan Brown allowed a fourth ball to fly the outfield wall via a Chris Tschida solo shot in his two innings of work, and Garrett McKenzie finished the deal with a scoreless frame.
Offensively, all but one Kingfish in the order was able to notch a hit. Madison, however, was able to scatter most every one of the twelve Kingfish hits and hold the Kingfish to three runs. Nick Sergakis, Zach Ratcliff, Alex Dunlap, and Alex Borlgin each had two hit ball games and combined for three of the four RBI collected by Kingfish hitters. The Kingfish stranded twelve men on base and were unable to come back against the Mallards.
The Kingfish, with the loss, still hold a one game lead in the Northwoods League South Division over Madison and Green Bay. The Kingfish will host the Mankato Moondogs tomorrow evening at 6:05 CT.
The Kingfish ticket office powered by Platinum Systems office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
