Majors Acquire Sparre From Colts

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors have added some further depth to their forward corps with the addition of veteran winger Kris Sparre from the Barrie Colts this afternoon. Going the other way are 4th and 6th round picks in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection. Sparre will be in the Majors line-up tonight wearing #12.

The 20 year-old Mississauga native is participating in his third season in the OHL. He contributed 4 points in 23 games during the 2005-06 campaign. Then, he exploded with 29 goals and 51 points last year. So far this season, he had produced 2 points and 2 penalty minutes in 3 games.

The Majors 2007-08 home-opener takes place this evening, at 7:30 p.m. versus the Windsor Spitfires. The team's special edition mouse pad will be handed out to the first 5,000 fans that enter the Hershey Centre.

Then, on Sunday afternoon (October 7), the Majors host the Kingston Frontenacs at 2 p.m. This time, the first 5,000 fans that enter will receive this year's Majors magnet schedule. Also, the Majors KidsZone section at the Hershey Centre will be unveiled, featuring interactive games and plenty of fun. And, Diego, from Dora the Explorer fame, will be available for photos in the KidsZone from 1 to 2 p.m.

Majors ticket prices range from only $12.95 to $19.95, with group rates going as low as $8.75. They can be purchased through the Hershey Centre box office two hours prior to the puck drop on game-days or during regular business hours or by logging on to the Majors web site (www.stmichaelsmajors.com).
