KITCHENER, Ont. - Justin Azevedo scored once and added three assists to lead the Kitchener Rangers to an 8-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.
Matt Halischuk added two goals and two assists in the game while Nick Spaling, Nazem Kadri, Alex Dzielski, Phil Varone and Doug Clarkson rounded out the scoring. Mikkel Boedker collected three assists.
Justin Hodgman scored both Otters goals while Ryan O'Reilly collected two assists.
The Otters dropped to 2-3-0-0 with the loss while the Rangers remain unbeaten at 4-0-0-0. The Rangers led 4-1 after one and 6-1 heading into the third.
Justin Garay started and allowed four goals on 19 shots in the opening period. Jaroslav Janus came off the bench in relief and allowed four goals on 32 shots.
The three stars of the game were all from the Rangers. Azevedo was the first, Boedker was the second and Halischuk was the third.
The Otters return to action tomorrow (Saturday) night at the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start against the London Knights. Platinum tickets are $13.50, Gold Tickets are $11.50 and Children (12 and under) are $9.50 in any seating area. All single game ticket prices include the City of Erie Entertainment Tax.
