Plymouth Whalers News Release

PLYMOUTH, MI - Plymouth Whalers President, General Manager and Head Coach Mike Vellucci announced that the Whalers have acquired 19-year-old right wing Patrick Lee from the Erie Otters. The Otters placed Lee on waivers at the start of the season two weeks ago.

Lee - from Sharon, ON - was originally selected by Erie in the 6th round (109th overall) of the 2004 OHL Draft. Lee played two seasons in Erie, scoring 10 goals with 20 assists for 30 points and 106 penalty minutes over 119 games. His best offensive season was last year, when he scored 5 goals with 12 assists for 17 points and 59 penalty minutes in 57 games. Lee did not play this season in Erie.

Earlier this week, Plymouth sent 18-year-old center/left wing Chad Beal to London for a conditional draft choice. Beal was selected by the Whalers in the 3rd round of the 2005 OHL Draft and was hurt in Plymouth's training camp last season. Beal played for the Pickering Panthers of the Ontario Junior Provincial Hockey League last year.

Meanwhile, the Whalers (1-2-1-0) are in action this Saturday at 7:05 p.m., hosting the Oshawa Generals at Compuware Arena. The Generals (3-0-0-1) feature star left wing John Tavares, who is expected to be the top choice in the National Hockey League Entry Draft in 2009. Tavares comes into this weekend second in scoring in the OHL with seven goals and six assists for 13 points in four games.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available by calling the Compuware Arena Box Office at (734) 453-8400 starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Tickets run $14 for Center Ice Seating and $10 for Executive Reserved. Saturday's game is also a Family Value Pack Night - four tickets, four hotdogs, four pepsi products and four lineup cards for $44. Additional Family Value Pack tickets can be purchased for $11.

The Whalers will be distributing 2007 Championship Team Posters during Saturday's game.
