Mainers Sail Past Pilgrims with Late-Inning Rally

Sanford Mainers News Release
SANFORD - It threatened rain Sunday evening at Goodall Park and eventually it did - as the *Mainers (14-12) *offense poured to the tune of a 12-2 victory over the Plymouth Pilgrims (11-14).
The Mainers continued their hot-hitting ways, with no example more prominent than their seven-run outburst in the 8th inning. With Sanford already leading 5-2 and looking for insurance, *Todd Czinege (Villanova) *doubled, as *Chris Gaetano (Monmouth) *walked to put two men aboard. Two batters later, *Jordan Powell (Rhode Island) *singled to load the bases for *Johnny Slater (Michigan)*, who singled to score Czinege.
The Moose were happy to add to their newly minted 6-2, with *Ako Thomas (Michigan) *quickly adding a two-run single of his own just a batter later. *Zach Jancarski (Maryland) *singled in another run, only have Czinege hit another double in the inning, this time driving in two more runs.
When the smoke cleared, Sanford had blown open the game with seven runs, on six hits and an error, stranding three. The Mainers entered the day hitting .281 over their last five games, as the offense continues to come alive and punish other NECBL ball clubs.
One consistent part of the Mainers attack has been their starting pitching. *Will Tribucher (Michigan) *provided that part, going five innings on three hits, one run (earned), four walks and seven strike outs, earning the win.
At the close of play Sunday, the Mainers find themselves tied for a share of the NECBL Northern Division lead, with both Winnipesaukee and Keene who are each at 13-11. The Mainers are now in the midst of a five-game winning streak, and are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
Sanford's offense was led by the exploits Czinege and Powell, amongst others. Czinege finished the day 4-for-5, with a double and three RBIs while Powell was also 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. The two, along with *Mike Landestoy (Texas Christian) *have been ring leaders for the Mainers offensive Renaissance, while others like Jancarski and Thomas have been there all along.
The Mainers travel July 11 to Montpelier, Vermont to face the Vermont Mountaineers for the fourth time this season, with the home team winning every contest so far. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM, with pregame coverage at 6:15 on the NECBL Broadcast Network, The Legends in Sanford 102.3 FM and 1220 AM, and CBS Sports 1240 WSKI in the greater-Montpelier area
