
Mainers Defeat In-State Rivals 3-1

Old Orchard Beach, ME-The Sanford Mainers came out on top on Friday, defeating the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide by the score of 3-1 in Old Orchard Beach. The win improves the Mainers to 17-14 on the season, tied for second place in the NECBL's Eastern Division.
Old Orchard Beach got on the board early, scoring in the first. Billy Bereszniewicz walked and stole second. Tim Quinn doubled to score Bereszniewicz and give the Raging Tide an early 1-0 lead.
In the sixth Sanford got took a lead they would not give up. Justin Leisenheimer singled and advanced to second on a Paul Kronenfeld walk. Jack Lupo reached on an error to load the bases before Pat Devlin was hit by a pitch to bring in the tying run. Eric Hailer followed and reached on an error that scored Kronenfeld to give the Mainers a 2-1 lead.
The Mainers added another run in the seventh. Marlon Calbi singled and advanced to second on an error by the pitcher on a pickoff attempt. Brett Mollenhauer followed with a single to score Calbi and make it 3-1 Sanford.
Despite loading the bases in the ninth, Tyler Mizenko kept Old Orchard Beach from scoring to lock down the save.
