Maine Uses Huge Fourth Quarter to Snap Losing Skid

Frisco, TX (January 24, 2011) - The Maine Red Claws snapped a five-game losing streak on Monday night by defeating the Texas Legends 95-89 on Monday night at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.

After trailing 15-14, the Legends finished the first quarter on an 8-0 to take a seven point lead into the second. Texas would lead by as many as 11 points in the first half, but Maine would end the half on a 17-6 run to head into the break knotted up at 42.

The teams would remain tied at 61 with under three minutes to go in the third. However, the Legends would finish the period on a 10-0 run and on top by ten.

Maine would answer right back with a 17-1 run to start the fourth quarter and give the Red Claws a six-point lead.

Down by nine with just 2:49 left in the game, Texas would go on a 7-0 run to get back within two at 87-85. Up by two with 42.6 seconds left, the Red Claws' DeShawn Sims nailed a 3-pointer to put the game out of reach for the Legends. Texas was outscored 34-18 in the fourth quarter, sending Maine home with the victory.

Matt Rogers led the Legends with 18 points and eight rebounds. Joe Alexander finished with 14 points and 12 boards, while Antonio Daniels added 10 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.

Jamar Smith led five double-digit scorers for Maine with a team-high 17 points.

The Legends are back in action on Wednesday night with the first meeting in franchise history against the Utah Flash. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
