February 13, 2024 - NBA G League (G League)
Maine Celtics News Release
PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Celtics today announced that the team has acquired veterans Scotty Hopson and Joe Wieskamp in a series of transactions. Both Hopson and Wieskamp are expected to be in uniform for Maine's game vs. Windy City tomorrow night at the Portland Expo.
Maine acquired Hopson from the NBA G League Available Player Pool, a list of free agents eligible to play in the G League. Hopson replaces Jordan Schakel, who has been designated out with a season-ending knee injury. Schakel has been removed from the current roster, while by rule Maine retains his future Returning Player Rights.
The Celtics next traded Jordan Bowden to College Park in exchange for the Skyhawks' first-round selection in the 2025 NBA G League Draft.
Maine then traded that draft pick along with two of their own 2025 G League Draft picks and the Returning Player Rights to Grant Riller in a three-team trade with Texas and Ontario. In the trade, Maine acquired Wieskamp and the Returning Player Rights to Yudai Baba and Todd Withers. Neither Baba nor Withers is expected to immediately join the Celtics. G League teams retain a players' Returning Rights for two seasons.

In 131 career G League games, Hopson has averaged 16.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 52.2% from the field. Hopson has played in four career NBA games between Cleveland, Dallas, and Oklahoma City.
Wieskamp, a 6-6 guard, was a second round (41st overall) selection by San Antonio in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has played in 39 career NBA games between San Antonio and Toronto, and 50 G League games between Austin, Raptors 905, Wisconsin, and Texas. In his G League career, Wieskamp is averaging 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
Schakel played 24 games for Maine this season, averaging 13.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in 28.1 minutes per game.
