Maikel Jova Extends Hit Streak to 34 Games, Darrick Hale Homers Twice

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Darrick Haleclubbed two home runs and Maikel Jova extended his consecutive-games-hitting streak to 34, as the San Rafael Pacifics won their fourth in a row, topping the Hawaii Stars 8-4 in a twilight start at Albert Park.

Hale finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs and walked twice. Jova's first-inning single was his only hit of the game on a 1 for 4 night. Centerfielder Zack Pace continued his hot stretch, racking up three hits and three RBIs. He also scored three times and now has 11 hits in his last 34 at-bats over 10 games. He's tallied seven RBIs and eight runs scored for San Rafael (23-12), and is hitting .344 over that period.

Pacifics starter Tyler Pearson (1-0) earned the win, allowing two runs (both earned) scattering seven hits, struck out three and didn't walk a batter.

Steve Boggs, John Hurst, Henry Calderon and Chase Fontaine all had hits for San Rafael, who took a four-game lead over Hawaii (18-17).

Jensen Torreshad two RBIs for the Stars on a fifth-inning homer, and Steve Raburn Jr.(2-1) was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked four and struck out two.
