SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (July 20, 2012 - Maikel Jova extended his hitting streak to 33 games with a game-winning, eighth-inning RBI single as the San Rafael Pacifics rallied from a six-run deficit to beat the Hawaii Stars 9-8 on Friday Night at Albert Park.

Jova was hitless in his three at bats prior to drilling his two-out single to left, and finished with two RBIs on the night, bringing his season tally to 37.

First basemen Johnny Woodard and left fielder Steve Boggs combined for three hits and four runs. Woodard drove in a pair on his sixth-inning double, which made the score 8-7 Hawaii.

Pacifics starter Tyler Topp pitched his last game as a professional, going the first three innings, allowing five runs and striking out three. Topp, 25, had announced his retirement earlier in the week. The Riverside native did not factor in the decision, and finishes 2-1 on the season.

San Rafael (22-12) used six pitchers all told. Matt Stabelfeld earned the save after entering the game in the ninth with the bases loaded and one out. He struck out Adam Jacobs swinging and froze Dion Pouncil on a called third strike to end the game. Julian Arballo (4-2) earned the win for San Rafael.

The Stars (18-16) fall to four games back to San Rafael atop the North American League's North Division standings.

The two teams play again on Saturday at 5 p.m. and the first 500 fans in attendance receive Pacifics Blankets, courtesy Saint Francis Memorial Hospital Center for Sports Medicine. Tickets are available at Pacificsbaseball.com .
