Fort Worth Cats News Release
Fort Worth allowed four unearned runs on four errors in the Cats' 5-3 loss to the San Angelo Colts on Saturday night at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX. Two of those unearned runs came on a homerun from Colts shortstop Landon Camp who belted one beyond right field in the sixth inning following a two-out error from Cats' third baseman Brandon Jones. The homer was Camp's only hit of the ballgame but was ever so important.
San Angelo can also credit their win to great pitching from starter Mike Hart (4-1) who pitched seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits. Two of those hits and both runs came on Hart's final two batters in the bottom of the eighth inning. Hart also struck out four batters and walked one.
Erik Draxton picked up the save on Saturday despite a scary start to his outing with a leadoff homerun from Fort Worth first baseman Jose Ruiz.
Blake Parry might have had a similar outing if it were not for the defensive mishaps of the Cats. Parry pitched seven innings and allowed four runs on five hits.
With the win, the Colts improve their record to 26-28 and they remain in fourth place of the United League, 7.5 games behind first-place Edinburg. Fort Worth's record falls to 30-23 and they lose sole possession of second place to Rio Grande Valley and they are now three games back of Edinburg.
The Cats and Colts will face off again on Sunday for a doubleheader that begins at 1:05 p.m. Both games will consist of seven innings. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
