Magic Fall to Skyhawks

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, lost to the College Park Skyhawks 119-115 in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.

BJ Johnson struck first with triples on the Magic's first two possessions. The Magic and Skyhawks exchanged buckets throughout the first quarter and were tied at 30 going into the second. Michale Kyser hit two three-point shots on his way to twelve first half points, but Nick Ward's strong presence in the paint helped the Skyhawks take a 59-53 lead at half.

Johnson continued his hot shooting in the third, scoring 10 of his 29 points in the quarter, but Jordan Sibert and the Skyhawks were able to extend the lead to nine points going into the fourth. The lead ballooned to 14 points in the fourth quarter before the Magic staged a comeback attempt in the final minutes of the game. Two clutch threes from Vic Law and Josh Magette cut the deficit to just three points with 29 seconds left, but the Skyhawks held on to secure a 119-115 win.

Johnson finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals. Magette posted 20 points and nine assists. Frazier scored 20 points and five rebounds. Kyser added 18 points and seven rebounds.

Ward lead the way in the middle for the Skyhawks on a perfect 10-10 from the field, finishing with 27 points and eight rebounds. Tahjere McCall posted 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Sibert scored 21 points and four rebounds.

The Lakeland Magic are back at home on Friday, February 21 to take on the Long Island Nets. Tip-off at the RP Funding Center is set for 7:00 PM. The game will be available on NBAGLeague.com
