Madison to Finish Season against Green Bay
April 12, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
It all comes down to the final week of the regular season to determine who the Capitols will play in the first round of the Clark Cup playoffs. Madison plays a home-and-home against Green Bay this weekend in games 61 and 62 this season.
Green Bay enters the weekend with a 5-2-0-0 record against the Capitols already capturing the win in the season series against one another. Too bad that the Wisconsin Cheese Cup doesn't go by aggregate, though, as the Capitols only trail by one in that category in the season series (26-25).
The Capitols sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings and can only finish in fifth or one spot higher. The scenarios for the first round include a series against Green Bay, Muskegon, or, most likely, Youngstown in the first round. The only way that the Capitols would host home games in the first round is with a pair of wins this weekend and Youngstown dropping both games to the NTDP U17s.
Madison is set to host the debut of Ryker Lee on Friday night as the Shattuck-St. Mary's product will be playing with the top line of Austin Burnevik and James Hong. Lee was on the Hlinka Gretzky Cup team for the US that took bronze last summer. He was selected in the second round of the 2022 Phase I Draft.
Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena on Friday night followed by a 6:05 pm start time on Saturday in Green Bay. Tickets are all gone for Friday, but a live broadcast can be found on FloHockey($) and Caps Radio on YouTube.
Stay connected with the Madison Capitols on social media and the team's official website for the latest updates, news, and behind-the-scenes content as the team gears up for an exhilarating season ahead.
