Indiana Mad Ants News Release
FORT WAYNE, IN - The Mad Ants, sponsored by Lutheran Health Network, topped the Grand Rapids Drive 110-104 in their return back to the Coliseum on Wednesday, March 9th.
After spending the first two games of their March schedule in Mississauga, ON and Canton, OH, the Mad Ants returned home to the Coliseum looking to take a win at home to kick off their busy week schedule. Tonight's game against Grand Rapids marks the first of three home games for the team in four days. While the first quarter was spent sharing a lead with the visiting Drive, leaving a tied score of 25-25 at the end of the opening twelve minutes, the second quarter provided the Mad Ants taking a consistent lead behind Terran Petteway and Rakeem Christmas. Petteway led all scorers at the half with 13 points, while Christmas followed with 12 of his own as Fort Wayne took the 63-49 lead at the close of the first half.
The Mad Ants grew their lead steadily in the third quarter, escalating to an advantage of up to sixteen fueled by twenty points off the bench from Petteway after three. While Grand Rapids began to threaten around the midway point of the final quarter, the Mad Ants defense would put a stop and end any hope of a comeback with a 110-104 victorious final score. Leading the way for the Mad Ants was Petteway with 25 points and Christmas with 20 points. CJ Fair rounded out the offensive game with 17 points.
Leading the way for the Drive, Lorenzo Brown led with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Henry Sims followed his teammate with a double-double good for 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Fort Wayne moves to 18-22 on the season, while Grand Rapids falls to 18-22.
The Mad Ants will remain at home for a weekend doubleheader beginning Friday, March 11th with a matchup against the Westchester Knicks and concluding Saturday, March 12th as the Mad Ants host the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Both games are set to tip at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can purchase Mad Ants tickets anytime, which start at just $6, at the Memorial Coliseum Box Office, by visiting www.ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
