Grand Rapids Drive News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Henry Sims had another double-double, but the Grand Rapids Drive couldn't pull out a win on Wednesday night.

The Drive lost 110-104 to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in front of 1,736 fans at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Grand Rapids (18-22), the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, has lost three in a row and six of its last seven games.

Sims, a 6-foot-10 center out of Georgetown, had 23 points and 12 rebounds for his 15th double-double of the season. That is the fourth most in the D-League. He has had double-doubles in each of his last four games.

Dahntay Jones, a 6-foot-7 guard out of Duke, had his second double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Lorenzo Brown had a team-high 24 points, was 10-of-17 from the field and had seven rebounds and four assists. Brown has scored 20 or more in each of the past four games. Devin Ebanks added 13 points and eight rebounds and Kelsey Barlow also had 13 points.

"It's got to be pretty comforting for coach Otis Smith to have a such a veteran-laden team," former NBA guard Jaren Jackson said during the broadcast. "He doesn't have to call many plays. They know what they are doing. They've played a lot of basketball. Particularly a guy like Dahntay Jones."

Grand Rapids went on a run to open the third quarter and cut a 16-point deficit down to two when Sims drained two free throws to make it 73-71. But Terran Pettaway drained a couple of threes and Fort Wayne would get the lead back up to 13.

The Drive had a strong first quarter but they were outscored 38-24 in the second and trailed 63-49 at halftime. Jones led the team with 12 points at the break.

Pettaway was scoreless in the first quarter, but went on a tear after that, finishing with a game-high 25 points to lead Fort Wayne. He was 5-of-7 from 3-point range.

Grand Rapids continues its five-game road trip with two games in Maine to play the Red Claws. The first game is Friday at 7 p.m. EST and the second is on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Drive returns home on March 16 when it hosts Westchester.
