
Canton's Bench Comes Up Big In Home Win Over Knicks

The Canton Charge (26-14), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Westchester Knicks (23-18), 105-95, on Wednesday night. The win was Canton's eighth-straight at home and 21st in their last 24 games overall.
The Charge bench outscored the Westchester reserves 63-19 on the night, as Nick Minnerath supplied his ninth double-double of the year with 17 points and 15 rebounds in 33 minutes. Mike Stockton added his third double-double of the year by scoring 15 points and dishing 10 assists in 32 minutes off the bench. C.J. Wilcox led Canton with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 4-of-9 from three-point range in 31 minutes on assignment from the Los Angeles Clippers.
Down 23-19 after the opening quarter, Canton got huge production from reserves Minnerath and Wilcox with 13 and 11 points in the second respectively. The Charge got 30 of their 32 second quarter points from their bench and assisted on 11 of 14 field goals to pull ahead 49-48 at the half.
It was a back-and-forth third quarter that featured seven lead changes and two ties, with neither team leading by more than two possessions. With Canton leading 75-74 and 2:43 left in the third, neither team converted a field goal the rest of the way. A Minnerath technical was the only point scored during that final stretch of the quarter to give the hosts a 76-74 advantage heading into the final frame.
The Knicks began the fourth on a 10-3 run in the first 4:26 to pull ahead 84-79. With Westchester leading 93-91 and 1:41 left to play, John Holland connected on a three-point jumper to put the charge back ahead for good. Canton forced four misses on the Knicks' final five shots while converting on four of their last five shots offensively to seal the victory.
Westchester's Jimmer Fredette scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-20 shooting with five boards, seven assists, and two steals in 39 minutes. Jordan Bachynski scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked three shots in 35 minutes. Thanasis Antetokounmpo supplied 13 points, nine rebounds, and six blocks in 36 minutes.
Canton's John Holland scored 17 points and grabbed five boards with three steals in 27 minutes. Juvonte Reddic added 13 points and nine boards in 33 minutes.
