
Mad Ants Drop Home Opener To Erie

Ft. Wayne, IN - The Erie Bayhawks spoiled the Fort Wayne Mad Ants opening night by beating the home team, 85-77. Poor field goal shooting was the Mad Ants downfall, as they shot just 35% from the field for the game and were only able to muster 8 assists for the game.
In the first half of play, Erie jumped out to a quick 12-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Mad Ants shot a dismal 25% from the field in the first half, resulting in a 15-point deficit at halftime. Sean Sonderleiter led all scores at half with 15 points. Jackie Manuel had 13 points and 6 boards for the Bayhawks at intermission.
The Erie Bayhawks were led by Jackie Manuel with 18 points. John Bryant pitched in 16 points and 14 rebounds in the Bayhawk victory, and Donelle Taylor chipped in 16 points for the victors.
Center Sean Sonderleiter led the Mad Ants with 21 points and grabbed a team high 10 boards. Ron Howard scored 19 points, and Brandon Cotton had 16 in his NBA D-League debut.
The Mad Ants will attempt to get on the right side of the ledger this Sunday, November 29, when they host the Erie Bayhawks at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
