Springfield Armor News Release

The Springfield Armor opened their season against the Iowa Energy this past Friday November 27, 2009. Iowa took an early lead in the first quarter with Energy's Guard, Curtis Stinson, leading the way with 9 points. Iowa's lead continued to grow despite the comeback effort of the Armor to bring the score within 5. Tre Whitted put up a quick 10 points to go along with Perrin Johnson's 12 and Craig Austrie's 13.

However by the end of third quarter the Energy lead 80-56 and they continued to dominate on the three point line. With a final score of 73-106 in favor of the Energy the Armor will try to flip the outcome when the two teams go head to head again on Saturday November 28, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center in Downtown Springfield.

The grand opening night was sponsored by Six Flags of New England whose famous characters, like Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, made friends with the Armor fans. Friday night was also the debut of the Armorettes. Fourteen of Springfield's top dancers graced the stage donning the Armor colors of black and red. Fans of all ages waved balloon swords, foam fingers, and cheered along with Steal, the Armor mascot.
