Moncton Wildcats News Release

The Moncton Wildcats announced January 8, 2008 that forward Murdock MacLellan has been traded to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in return for a fourth round draft pick in the 2009 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Draft.

The 19 year old Mabou, Nova Scotia native came to the Wildcats from the Cape Breton West Major Midget Islanders as a free agent in 2006. Since then MacLellan has played 84 games and racked up 21 points as a Wildcat.

"It was tough to trade a person like Murdock. He was an outstanding individual and we wish him nothing but the best," says Danny Flynn, Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach for the Moncton Wildcats.

This trade marks the sixth trade for the Wildcats in the 2007-2008 winter trade period.

Moncton begins a stretch of 9 of their next 12 games on the road with a 3-game road trip at 8:00 p.m. Thursday as they battle the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies from Dave Keon Arena. Catch all the action live on NEWS 91.9FM with the Voice of the Wildcats, Jerry Green.

The Wildcats return to The Cage at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 when they face off with the Val-d'Or Foreurs, and cap the weekend home stand with another 7p.m. tilt on Saturday, Jan. 19 versus Rouyn-Noranda.
