Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

The MAINEiacs end their three-game home stand getting points in all the three games. Against the league leading Gatineau Olympiques the MAINEiacs fell in overtime 3-2. In the weekend doubleheader against division rival the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Lewiston took the first game with a 5-4 win and in the re-match fell in the shootout 4-3. The MAINEiacs ended the week getting 4 out of 6 points against opponents that were ahead of them in the standings.

This week the MAINEiacs take to the road where they will play three games in three nights against Telus division opponents starting this Friday, January 11th with their first match-up against the Quebec Remparts. Lewiston fell 4-1 to the Remparts in their only game this season here in Lewiston back on December 7th. From Quebec the MAINEiacs will travel north to Chicoutimi and face-off against the Sagueneens on Saturday, January 12th. The MAINEiacs played the Sagueneens back on October 26th here in Lewiston where they lost 5-3.

On Sunday, January 13th the MAINEiacs will travel even farther north to play against a tough Baie-Comeau Drakkar team. This will be the MAINEiacs first match-up of the season with the Drakkar. This game should make for a good match-up the following Friday, January 18th as the Drakkar travel to Lewiston for a re-match.

MAINEiacs goaltender Jonathan Bernier should be back in uniform for the weekend trip as he was away in the Czech Republic for the IIHF World Junior Championships where he won gold with Team Canada. This is the fourth straight year that Team Canada has won gold, and the third year in a row that a member of the Lewiston MAINEiacs organization was part of the gold winning Canadians.

The last trading period of this QMJHL season ends tomorrow, January 8th at noon.
