Mobile, AL - The Mississippi Braves came from behind thanks to Joe Leonard's heroics, defeating the Mobile BayBears 3-2 on Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Alden Carrithers walked to lead off the eighth with Mobile ahead 2-1, and Leonard stroked his second double of the day on the first pitch from Matt Gorgen to tie the game. Keenan Wiley laid down his second sacrifice bunt to move Leonard to third, setting up Christian Bethancourt's sacrifice fly.

That gave Zeke Spruill the lead just in time. He went seven frames of two-hit, two-run baseball to pick up his sixth win. He struck out five and walked four on the night, breaking a stretch of four straight losses. Matt Gorgen blew his second save and fell to 1-2 with the loss.

Cory Rasmus came on in the eighth and pitched the final two innings. He allowed just one hit, a two-out single to former Mississippi State Bulldog Ed Easley in the ninth. It was Rasmus' second save.

Mississippi scored first thanks to three straight singles off of David Holmberg to open the game. Joey Terdoslavich singled to right field to bring in Todd Cunningham from third, making it a 1-0 game.

In the fourth, Kyle Greene came up with a two-run double to turn the tables and put the BayBears up 2-1. Greene had the only two hits off of Spruill, breaking a stretch of 29 straight at-bats without a hit.

The Braves now head back home for Wednesday night's Fourth of July celebration and supersized fireworks display as they open a three-game series with the Jackson Generals. Four-time National League All-Star Ben Sheets makes his Mississippi Braves debut, taking on Generals left-hander Anthony Fernandez (2-0, 0.50).
