Mobile BayBears News Release

The Mobile BayBears dropped the series finale to the Mississippi Braves 3-2 Wednesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Mississippi took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Mobile rallied with two runs in the fourth inning. The Braves battled back in the eighth, scoring two runs off the BayBear bullpen to reclaim the lead while the Mississippi pitching staff limited the Mobile lineup to just two runs on three hits.

The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning when Todd Cunningham led off the game with a base hit and scored on a RBI single from Joe Terdoslavich. The BayBears tied the game and took the lead on one swing of the bat from Kyle Greene (pictured right) when he plated Matt Davidson and David Nick with a two-run double in the fourth inning. Mobile held the 2-1 lead until the top half of the eighth inning when Mississippi scored two runs to go ahead with a 3-2 lead.

Mobile starting LHP David Holmberg did not factor in the decision after throwing seven innings, surrendering just one unearned run on eight hits. The loss was credited to RHP Matt Gorgen who allowed the Braves' go-ahead run in the top half of the eighth inning. Marshall pitched the final two innings, allowing both runs on just one hit while walking one batter and recording two strikeouts.

The BayBears travel to Montgomery Wednesday, July 4, for a three game series against the Biscuits. The BayBears return to Hank Aaron Stadium Wednesday, July 11, to open up a three game homestand vs. the Huntsville Stars at 7:05 PM.
