PEARL, MS -- Greg Ross tossed 6.2 shutout innings to lead the Mississippi Braves to a 2-0 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits at Trustmark Park Wednesday. The series continues with game three Thursday at 7:00 PM.

Mississippi (31-21, 70-51) scored two runs on three hits. Montgomery (22-30, 57-65) managed seven hits but did not score and committed three errors. Ross (6-2) picked up the win, giving up just six hits while fanning one batter.

Ryne Harper (H, 9) worked an inning and one-third, striking out one. John Cornely (S, 6) came on in the ninth to notch the save. He gave up one hit and struck out one. Dylan Floro (9-12) tossed eight frames but suffered the loss. He gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits and five strikeouts.

The M-Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. Mycal Jones doubled and moved to third on a fielder's choice. Cedric Hunter then delivered a sacrifice fly to left field, plating the game's first run.

Kyle Wren reached on an error to start the bottom of the sixth. He moved to second on a ground out before stealing third base. An errant throw by the pitcher allowed Wren to score, extending the M-Braves lead to 2-0.

M-Braves right-hander Williams Perez (4-6, 3.27) counters Biscuits righty Albert Suarez (3-3, 3.41) in game three of this five-game series. First pitch is slated for 7:00 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
