PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (35-50) were defeated by the Biloxi Shuckers (48-36) 7-4 in Friday night's contest at Trustmark Park. Despite Friday night's loss, M-Braves third baseman, Alejandro Salazar proved to be a bright spot for the M-Braves offense. Salazar finished his night at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and three runs batted in.
The Shuckers scored early and often as they plated 6 runs over the course of the first four innings. Biloxi scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning after Luis Aviles Jr. singled on a line drive to center field, scoring Lucas Erceg from second base.
The Shuckers took advantage of a wild pitch by M-Braves starter, Tyler Pike in the top of the third inning which allowed Corey Ray to score from third base, making the score 2-0 in favor of Biloxi.
Biloxi did the majority of their damage in the top of the fourth inning as they added four insurance runs, extending their lead 6-0 courtesy of RBI singles from Trent Grisham and Troy Stokes Jr. and a RBI double from the bat of Aviles Jr.
Alajandro Salazar got his team on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning after smashing a fly ball double to deep center field, which allowed both Carlos Martinez and Luis Marte to score.
Biloxi collected their seventh run of the game in the top of the seventh inning via a sacrifice fly to left field by Max McDowell. Troy Stokes Jr. tagged up and scored from third base on the fly ball from McDowell.
The M-Braves rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to another RBI double from Salazar and a wild pitch by Biloxi relief pitcher, Jon Olczak that allowed Salazar to score from third base, making the score 7-4 which later proved to be the final score of the game.
