Tyler Stevens Promoted to Triple-A Salt Lake

MOBILE, Ala. - The Los Angeles Angels announced Friday that right-handed pitcher Tyler Stevens has been promoted from the Mobile BayBears to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Stevens, 22, had a 2-0 record with a 1.37 ERA in 13 relief appearances with Mobile. He was 4-for-5 in save situations and held opposing hitters to a .130 batting average. Stevens allowed just three runs in 19 2/3 innings pitched and is currently on a stretch of 9 2/3 straight scoreless innings, dating back to June 10.

Stevens joined the BayBears on May 22 after making 16 appearances with Class A Advanced Inland Empire to begin the season. He issued just four walks and struck out 28 batters in 23 2/3 innings, going 3-2 with a 2.28 ERA.

In 48 career Minor League games, Stevens has a 6-3 record and is 6-for-8 in save situations with a 2.77 ERA. He has walked just 15 batters in his career while striking out 95 in 74 2/3 innings pitched.

The Alamosa, Colo., native was selected by the Angels in the 18th round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of the University of New Mexico. This is the first time Stevens has been promoted to Triple-A.

In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Matt Custred returns to Mobile from Salt Lake. Custred was a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star.
