
M-Braves Dominate Late in 5-2 Win Over Trash Pandas

PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (54-69, 21-34) scored three unanswered runs late and won their third of the last four games in a 5-2 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas (56-68, 25-30) on Friday night at Trustmark Park.
Luke Waddell and Jesse Franklin V strung together back-to-back two out hits in the first inning to give the M-Braves an early 1-0 lead. Waddell went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
In the third, Cody Milligan smashed a solo homer to right field to make it 2-0. Milligan hit the M-Braves first homer in Trustmark Park since August 5 when Drew Lugbauer recorded the first ever three-home-run game at Trustmark Park.
Domingo Robles posted his fourth quality start in his last six outings. The left-hander went six innings and allowed two runs. Robles gave up six hits and two walks with four strikeouts. He has four earned runs in his last 18 innings. Robles lowered his ERA to 3.62, which is top five in the Southern League.
Tied 2-2 in the fifth, Josh Fuentes scored on a passed ball for the M-Braves to retake the lead. The M-Braves added two more on an RBI double from Franklin and an error in the seventh inning to make it 5-2.
Franklin went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Franklin has reached base in 34 of the past 36 games, including a team-best 23-game on-base streak.
Patrick Halligan and Brooks Wilson each pitched a shutout inning, and Tyler Owens earned his third save with a scoreless ninth inning. The M-Braves will go for a series win tomorrow night.
The fifth game of the series is on Saturday night at Trustmark Park. RHP Hurston Waldrep (0-0, --), Atlanta's 2023 first round pick, will make his Double-A debut for Mississippi while a starter to be named will start for Rocket City. Atlanta promoted Waldrep to Double-A after 15 professional innings since being drafted. The first pitch is at 6:05 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
