OTTAWA - The Lynx faced Syracuse in a home-and-home preseason series Friday and Saturday and had only a tie and a blowout loss to show for it. Syracuse pummeled the Lynx 10-0 Friday, before the two teams finished locked in a 4-4 tie Saturday.
The Lynx had a day off Sunday and they will have to regroup for the last week of the preseason, culminating in the club breaking camp and coming to Ottawa April 2nd. At 5-4-2, the Lynx have the second-best record among all Phillies affiliates.
Friday, March 23rd
Lynx 0 Syracuse 10
Phillies hurler Brett Myers got the start and allowed 6 runs over 6.1 innings, striking out six Chiefs. Ryan Cameron struggled, allowing the other four Syracuse runs, 2 earned, in just 0.1 of an inning. Jon Ennis and Brian Sanches finished the game off with a no-hit inning apiece. The Lynx offence could only muster 4 hits, two of which came off the bat of outfielder Chris Roberson. Jim Rushford and former Lynx Lou Collier had the other hits.
Saturday, March 24th
Lynx 4 Chiefs 4
Former Blue Jay Justin Miller had a chance to show his former club what they're missing. He allowed 4 runs over 4 innings, striking out 4 along the way. The Lynx bullpen quartet of Jim Crowell, Yoel Hernandez, Chris Key and Kane Davis shut the Chiefs down the rest of the way. Gary Burnham had 2 hits and a run batted in and Jason Jaramillo had a solo home run to lead the Lynx charge. Chris Roberson also had a hit and an RBI, while Carlos Leon and former Lynx Joey Hammond rounded out the hit parade.
The Lynx face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees today at the Yankees Complex. The Lynx preseason ends Saturday when the Lynx take on Durham.
The Ottawa Lynx will open the 2007 season, their first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in Rochester on April 6th. The Lynx home opener is scheduled for April 17th against the Charlotte Knights at 6:05 pm. Single-game tickets will be on sale at the Lynx Box Office starting April 2nd at 10 am.
