Lynx Roster Changes For The Second Half

OTTAWA - RHP Charlie Weatherby joins IF Jesus Merchan at Double-A Reading, while IF Danny Sandoval has been activated from the Temporarily Inactive list.

Weatherby, 28, was 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA in nine games with the Lynx this season, splitting time between the bullpen and the starting rotation. He was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA as a starter. He had no record, a 4.88 ERA and two saves in 15 games with Clearwater before being transferred to the Lynx roster June 4th. He was fourth in the independent Atlantic League in saves (15); second in games pitched (63) and third in games finished (37) last season

Merchan, 25, appeared in three games with the Lynx before the All-Star break, hitting .385 one home run and two runs batted in. He was transferred to Double-A Reading July 9th. Merchan leads the Eastern League with a .353 average and a .429 on-base percentage this season. He has hit 3 HR and 30 RBI in 64 games with the R-Phils. He is a career .280 hitter in his first eight professional seasons.

Sandoval, 28, is hitting .254 with 2 HR and 15 RBI in 73 games with the Lynx this season. He is a career .281 hitter in his 11th professional season. He played 31 games with the Philadelphia Phillies over the 2005 and 2006 seasons, earning a .200 average and driving in four runs. Sandoval was activated from the Temporarily Inactive list July 11th.
