The Braves grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Jonathan Schuerholz and an RBI ground out by Iker Franco. Schuerholz doubled two runs home in the fourth and Franco chased another home with a single to give Richmond a 5-0 lead. The Braves tacked on two more in the fifth on an RBI single by Larry Bigbie and an error. Richmond batted around in the sixth to add four more runs. Trey Hodges allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings to earn the win. Victor Zambrano took the loss. Bigbie had four hits. Schuerholz knocked in three runs.
ALL STAR RECAP: RHP Manny Acosta, the Braves lone representative in the Triple-A All Star Game last night, was picked as the game's top pitcher. Acosta tossed a perfect seventh inning, striking out two, as the International League beat the Pacific Coast League 7-5 in Albuquerque.
