
Lynx off to 2-0 start in spring action

OTTAWA - The Lynx are off to a great start in Minor League Spring Training season, sitting undefeated after their first two games, registering wins over Indianapolis and Syracuse.
Lynx 4 Indians 2 Pitchers Chris Key and Tally Haines each threw two shutout innings ball in the opener March 13 against the Indianapolis Indians. Bubba Nelson allowed one run over two innings, striking out two. Tim Moss led the way offensively for the Lynx, going 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Jim Rushford had two hits and a run scored. CF Ryan Fleming was 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI and RF Chris Roberson, SS Jesus Merchan, 1B Gary Burnham and 3B Joey Hammond each chipped in with a hit apiece.
Lynx 6 Chiefs 3
The Lynx made it two in a row with a win over the Blue Jays prospects March 14. Brian Mazone shone with four innings of 2-hit, one-run ball and striking out seven. RF Greg Jacobs led the Lynx bats, going 2-for-5 with a 2-run HR, 5 RBI and two runs scored. Also tallying two hits was CF Chris Roberson. Joining them in the hit column were DH Pedro Swann, SS Jesus Merchan, C Tim Gradoville, 1B Gary Burnham and DH Jason Jaramillo with one each.
The Ottawa Lynx will open the 2007 season, their first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in Rochester on April 6.
