
Atlanta sends five players to Richmond

RICHMOND, VA- Five players have been assigned by the Atlanta Braves from big league camp to the Triple-A Richmond roster. RHP Joey Devine, OF Gregor Blanco, C-1B Carlos Mendez, RHP Anthony Lerew, and RHP Jose Ascanio were sent to Richmond. The Braves also assigned RHP Kevin Barry, LHP Matt Harrison, and C Clint Sammons to minor league camp, and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia and INF Brent Lillibridge to Double-A Mississippi.
Ascanio, Lerew, Devine, and Blanco are on the major league 40-man roster. The remaining cuts were non-roster invitees. Devine, Barry, Blanco, Lerew, and Mendez played in Richmond last season. There are still 19 players remaining in big league camp who played in Richmond last season.
The R-Braves open their 12 game Florida pre-season schedule Saturday. The Braves report to Richmond April 3.
The Braves open the 2007 season at home Friday, April 13 vs. Indianapolis at 4 PM. Richmond begins the season in Buffalo April 5. For more information please call 359-4444 or visit www.rbraves.com.
