Lynx Make History With Split
August 30, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release
History was made at Lynx Stadium Thursday night. The Lynx win in the first game of their doubleheader with Rochester was the 1,000th win in team history. The Red Wings came back to win the late game to split the double-dip.
The Lynx are sitting on a 54-85 record while Rochester's record is 75-65.
Lynx Players Of The Day: Joe Thurston combined for three hits, raising his average to .299 on the season.
Game 1 Recap: Gary Knotts made his Lynx Stadium debut in grand fashion, rolling through the Rochester lineup and holding a no-hitter until the sixth inning. His counterpart from Rochester, Nick Blackburn, was up to the task, allowing only one unearned run over six innings. But that unearned run in the bottom of the first inning would be all the Lynx would need. Javon Moran scored on a passed ball and the Lynx would stretch that run into a 1-0 win, the 1,000th victory in team history.
Game 2 Recap: The Lynx got on the board early again in the late game, scoring twice in the bottom of the first. Gary Burnham got his 83rd RBI of the season, driving home Joe Thurston on an RBI single. Two batters later, Dusty Wathan would cash in Chris Roberson, spotting the Lynx to an early 2-0 lead. The Red Wings drew even with a pair of runs in the third inning. The game stayed deadlocked at 2-2 into an extra inning. Rochester scored in the eighth and the Lynx had no reply, falling 3-2.
Next Game: The Lynx welcome the Syracuse Chiefs to Lynx Stadium for the last homestand of the season. First pitch Friday night is set for 7:05 pm.
Probable Pitchers: Friday vs. Syracuse: Lynx RHP Landon Jacobsen (2-7, 5.12) vs. Syracuse LHP Randy Leek (0-0, 15.75)
Fans can venture up to the Upper Deck Sports Bar on the third floor of Lynx Stadium. The Upper Deck features nightly food specials and 30-cent chicken wings available after each Lynx home game!
