Seimone Augustus had an opportunity to tie or take the lead on the final shot of the game, but her shot was rejected as the final buzzer sounded, giving the 73-71 decision to the Chicago Sky. Chicago had two players score 20 or more points in the affair. Jia Perkins scored 20 points on 6-12 shooting, while Candice Dupree recorded a double -double, putting up a game-high 26 points and 10 rebounds. Minnesota's bench produced a franchise-record 47 points, led by 17 points from Candice Wiggins. Vanessa Hayden-Johnson scored a season-high 13 points, including 12 in the first half. With the loss, the Lynx fell to 8-8 on the season, while the Sky improved their record to 5-9. The Sky bumped their overall series lead to 4-1 over the Lynx. Minnesota will head out west Thursday to face Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks before tripping to face Seattle on Saturday. Thursday night's contest against the Sparks tips off at 9:30 PM and can be heard on the radio home of the Lynx, BOB FM 106.

The Lynx will begin a two-game west-coast swing when they take on the revamped Los Angeles Sparks this Thursday night at the Staples Center. The two teams met in the preseason when the Spark handed the Lynx a tough 106-105 double-overtime defeat in Grand Forks, ND. Navonda Moore posted a game-high 21 points for the Lynx. This Thursday will mark this season's first regular season match up between the two teams. The Sparks currently sit atop the Western Conference at 10-4 and have gotten a huge lift from rookie sensation Candice Parker. Parker is averaging a team-high 17.1 points per game in her first year out of Tennessee. Last season, the Lynx split the season-series with the Sparks, winning both games at Target Center. Then Lynx forward Kristen Maan fueled the Lynx to their first victory over the Sparks last season by scoring 16 points back on June 16, while Seimone Augustus and Svetlana Abrosimova teamed up to score 23 points a piece to secure a Lynx victory last July 27th. Los Angeles owns the overall series advantage over the Lynx 7-24, including a 13-2 record at Staples Center. Thursday night's game will be broadcasted on the radio home of the Lynx, BOB FM 106 with Alan Horton on the play-by-play.

Back on July 2nd, 2000, the Minnesota Lynx established a team record for most turnovers forced in a game when the Portland Fire coughed the ball up 28 times to the Lynx. The Lynx prevailed over the Fire, 81-75 to improve to 10-5. Katie Smith scored 32 points and Betty Lennox dished-out a team-high six assists.
