May 4, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx, in conjunction with Clear Channel Radio of Augusta, kicks off its inaugural "Lynx Idol Anthem Contest" with the goal of finding the top 20 local idols to perform the National Anthem at a Lynx game during the 2006-07 Season.
Talented local performers can register for Lynx Idol at AugustaLynx.com, or at participating Clear Channel Augusta's radio station sites to be announced next week, and submit mp3s of their National Anthem performances.
A panel of judges will select the best vocalist each week, with the winner nailing down one of the 20 available National Anthem slots during the 2006-07 Lynx season. Winners also receive a Lynx jersey and two tickets to the game.
Prospective Lynx Idols without mp3 versions of their Anthem performance may also submit their entries to the Augusta Lynx office on CD or cassette tape. A printable registration form will be available next week at AugustaLynx.com.
"Our goal is to get the community more involved in Lynx hockey and find the best talent in the CSRA to perform the National Anthem at our games next season, and we thank Clear Channel for making this promotion possible" Lynx General Manager Rob Mueller said. "We may not discover the next Kelly Clarkson, but we will showcase the best vocalists in the area at Lynx games in 2006-07."
