Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx added two more names to their training camp roster today, announcing that they have agreed to terms with forward Ryan Bennett and defenseman Eric Lundberg for the 2005-06 ECHL Season.

Bennett, 24, comes off a successful rookie campaign with the United Hockey League's Adirondack Frostbite in 2004-05 that also saw him spend some time with the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans. The 6-0, 190 lb. right wing scored 22 goals and notched 57 points in 70 games while earning 2005 UHL All-Star honors. His +32 rating ranked him first among UHL rookies last season and placed him sixth overall in the league. His 57 points was also fifth among all UHL rookies last year. The Queensbury, NY native posted 13 multiple-point efforts with the Frostbite last year.

With Rochester, Bennett appeared in six games to close out the year, registering no points and seven minutes in penalties.

"Ryan is a solid two-way player who can produce offensively while taking care of his own end," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Bob Ferguson. "His plus/minus rating shows his commitment to both ends of the ice."

Defensively, the Lynx become even deeper with 22-year-old former Providence College captain Eric Lundberg. Selected by the Colorado Avalance in the third round, 94th overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Lundberg attended rookie camp with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks this season. The 6-3, 200 lb. blueliner scored twice and added 10 assists with the Friars last season along with 46 PIMs. Lundberg was a teammate of fellow Lynx Chris Chaput at Providence.

"Despite his young age, Eric has both leadership and experience that will definitely help our club," said Ferguson. "A very solid defender, he can also provide some offense for us on occasion."

Lundberg and Bennett are both currently heading to training camp with the AHL's Portland Pirates alongside other Lynx signees Chaput, Ryan Lang, and Jake Riddle. The Lynx current roster also includes forwards Brian Passmore, Doug Wright, Jimmy Callahan, and Rich Hansen, as well as defensemen Marty Lapointe, Phil Cole, Ken Scuderi, Shaun Fisher, and Treavor Peterson.

The Lynx will have another major signing to announce tomorrow afternoon!
