
Lynx Fall to Sparks, 76-70

The Los Angeles Sparks were able to snap their three game losing streak Tuesday night, defeating the Lynx 76-70 at Target Center. Minnesota's poor shooting helped stake the Sparks a 35-22 lead at half, which included a 20-0 Sparks run early in the first quarter. The Lynx took a brief lead in the fourth quarter, but the Sparks pulled away late to earn their second road win of the season. Tina Thompson scored a game-high 30 points for Los Angeles, 15 of which came in the decisive fourth quarter.
Highlight of the Night
The Lynx played well on the defense end again, forcing 18 turnovers that would lead to 19 Minnesota points. Nicky Anosike, who came into tonight's game tied for first in the WNBA in steals (3.06 spg), led the Lynx with four steals. Roneeka Hodges, Renee Montgomery, and Tasha Humphrey each recorded two steals as well. It is the ninth time this season the Lynx have forced 17-or-more turnovers, however the previous eight led to Lynx victories.

- The win improves the Sparks' road record to 2-8.
- The Sparks went on a 20-0 run in the first quarter, holding the Lynx scoreless for over eight minutes. The first quarter ended with the Sparks leading 21-13.
- The Sparks led 35-22 at the end of the first half. Tina Thompson led all scorers with 10 points. Charde Houston led Lynx players with six points. Neither team shot above 35% in the half. The Lynx shot 27.3% (9-33) and the Sparks shot 34.4% (11-32) from the field.
- The Sparks led 50-47 at the end of the third quarter. The Lynx outscored the Sparks 23-15 after trailing by 13 at the end of the first half.
- Minnesota 22 points in the first half is a season-low for points in a half.
- The Sparks are currently on a seven game road trip. Tonight's game is game five of their seven game trip.
- The Sparks snapped their three game losing streak with tonight's win.
- Lisa Leslie missed tonight's game with a severe sprain to her right knee.
- Tasha Humphrey and Anna Montañana made their debuts at the Target Center. Humphrey came of the bench to score 11 points and haul in five rebounds. Montañan recorded two points and two rebounds.
- Tina Thompson and Candace Parker both recorded season-high point totals in tonight's game. Tina Thompson recorded 30 points and Parker finished with 11. Parker also recorded ten rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
